My Creative Scrapbook teams up with Creative Scrappers to bring you an awesome sketch challenge!

Hello all.  I hope all the USA people are enjoying a relaxing Memorial Day.  I'm trying to stay relaxed as my kids run through the house with tremendous amounts of energy.  There are light showers in the area at the moment.  The boys are dressed in their swim trunks ready to go to the pool.  For some reason they don't feel they can be outside right now though.

What I really writing about is the exciting news that My Creative Scrapbook has teamed up with Creative Scrappers to bring you an awesome sketch challenge.  You can find the details at Creative Scrappers website: http://creativescrappers.blogspot.com/
By the way, this is also a sneak peak at next months My Creative Scrapbook kits!  Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on the sketch:

I followed the sketch pretty closely.  I really like sketches and work with them quite a bit.  It gives me a starting point.  Sometimes the layouts look like the sketch, sometimes you'd never know that my layout started with the particular sketch I used.

Your layouts are due by midnight on May 31st!  The prize is from My Creative Scrapbook so I'm sure you will love it.  Have fun creating and watch for more posts coming soon.  Kit reveal is just around the corner!

Adding Simple Details helps a Layout Pop

Hi Fellow MCS Croppers, Today I wanted to share some very easy tips on adding details to your layouts. Just grab your journaling pens and start detailing! First, let me show you my family layout before I added some extra embellishments and details.
Now, let me show you how I fancied up this layout. First, I backed some of my pattern paper with cardstock. That helps make each layer more distinct. Then, I grabbed my black journaling pen and started outlining the paper.
Next, I cut out some pattern paper to add more details to the page. Again, I outlined all my flowers to make help them really stand out. I also took the vellum flowers apart, outlined them, and put them back together.
Now check out the final layout.
Here are a few more examples where I added some simple details by just using my journaling pen.
Here is the final layout.
In this layout I just traced around the overlay to make it pop a little more. Then popped it up.

Lastly, You are going to love Bella Blvd's Forever Family line found in the Creative kit.

Check out all the design team's layouts in the Design Team Gallery at www.mycreativescrapbook.com.

Here are my samples made with the Creative kit.

These pictures were taken at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City.  My boys crack me up.

Last summer cousin Samantha came to visit.  The boys loved playing with her at the pool.

Here's another layout with pictures from a visit to Worlds of Fun.

Aren't my nieces and nephew adorable???  This is my favorite layout of the month.  Watch for a tutorial next week that relates to this page.

I'm going to frame this layout and give it to my brother and his family.  BTW, that is my maiden name - bet you can't pronounce it!

Here is the last layout of the month.  Again, my boys are so silly.  This is an easy layout to make - I hope you'll give it a try - just start cutting/punching circles!

Have a great month!
